JD Palatine is a comprehensive background screening company that provides innovative risk mitigation solutions to the healthcare, corporate, transportation, non-profit, education and property management industries. The company has seen an incredible amount of growth in the tri-state area and has decided to build their new 5,500 sq.ft. office headquarters in Wexford, PA. Prior to the completion of the new office fit-out many staff members worked from home, sprinkled across the Pittsburgh area. The new headquarters brings staff together to improve collaboration and create a sense of community, with the ultimate goal of making the company more efficient.
As a customer service business, most employees are frequently on the phone – communicating with clients and conducing background screening on a variety of confidential services. While sound transmission and audible privacy was critical, a visually transparent office design was desired and key to the company culture. These contrasting needs were addressed through strategic planning of office functions as well as physical mitigation materials such as carpeting, drop ceilings and furniture purposefully installed at essential areas. The design also planned for a future noise canceling system to adapt the space to the company’s growth needs and new services. Several conference rooms were distributed throughout the work zone core allowing for more private conversations and team meetings.
With security, transparency and openness as client’s priorities, the design accommodates key executives at flanking corners of the building with a visually open yet private office solution. This allows them the capability to monitor the operations floor with a single glance. A variety of staff workstation configurations are arranged between the executive offices and along uninterrupted perimeter windows which provide natural daylighting for all of the staff that work at JD Palatine.
