With its staggering 121 stories, Entisar Tower in Dubai requires precision engineering to ensure that one of the world’s tallest residential skyscrapers is also one of the most robust. To offset wind and seismic activity, the very top of the building will contain a massive two-thousand-ton damper—the heaviest counterweight ever built for a skyscraper—that will ensure the building remains relatively still regardless of the outside forces. The building’s weight also required creative solutions, including sourcing an innovative system for extending foundational piles more than three times deeper into the ground than typical. Since the atmospheric conditions change drastically at higher elevations, the density of the materials at every height are carefully calibrated to ensure the same comfort level whether residing near the ground floor or seventeen hundred feet above sea level. Our team applied the same degree of consideration in strategically placing the building’s multiple electrical substations, building infrastructure capable of cooling 121 floors in a desert climate, and integrating the centralized fire safety system. With all of its cutting-edge engineering solutions, Entisar Tower will set a new standard in high-rise engineering.
