Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will be a key contributor to our company’s growth strategy. This role focuses on identifying new market opportunities, nurturing strategic partnerships, and developing comprehensive plans to drive revenue and expansion. You will collaborate closely with Principal level leadership, marketing, and staff to align business objectives with actionable initiatives. As a trusted representative of AE7, you will conduct market research, engage with targeted potential clients, attend relevant marketing opportunity conferences and assist with strategizing/delivering proposals to successfully win new project/client opportunities.

Candidates should have at least 10+ years experience in business development, marketing or related industry.   Preferred candidates will have expertise in the Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction industry and also have an understanding of the ability to target potential clients: Higher education and/or development. Candidates may also benefit from having experience/relationships in one or more of the following market fields:

  • Civic / Governmental
  • Commercial Buildings / Commercial Tenant Fit-out
  • Hospitality
  • Residential / Multi-Family Residential

 

General Responsibilities: 

  • Research markets, Identify and schedule meetings with key decision-makers for targeted potential clients / preferred market sectors
  • Identify potential project opportunities
  • Identify opportunities for trade conferences to exhibit and attend
  • Attend trade group monthly networking meetings
  • Coordinate BD activities with office and market sector leaders
  • Identify subconsultants with connections to potential clients
  • Develop networking relationships with the subconsultants
  • Identify and meet with design-build contractors
  • Attend pre-proposal meetings
  • Participate in proposal strategy sessions in response to RFPs and RFQs
  • Assist with proposal creation, as needed
  • Work with marketing to coordinate marketing content to match client’s needs
  • Look for opportunities to create PR and social media posts
  • Evaluate projects for photography required
  • Track contacts and opportunities in CRM database
  • Identify potential candidates for positions as market sector leaders
  • Forecast revenue / project win targets, set strategic growth goals
  • Regularly report findings, potential / pending project opportunities, and strategies to senior management

 

Qualities & Skills Required:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience business development in the A/E/C industries
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of specific market sectors to target clients
  • Knowledge and use of CMR software platform(s)
  • Ability to interact with people from various backgrounds; conduct interviews to gather project/technical information
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Excellent computer skills and aptitude to learn new software skills
  • Critical thinker and able to work independently

 

Desirable:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Knowledge of InDesign
