Next at bat on the North Shore: A 305-unit apartment building overlooking PNC Park
The planned residential development overlooking PNC Park on Pittsburgh North Shore has increased in size from 260 to 305 units. As the building was relocated to a nearby parcel due to a 118-inch pipe found below ground, the size and design elements evolved, resulting in a wider footprint and an increased number of units.
The development is tailored to people who enjoy the city energy and action of the North Shore, whether it’s Pirates or Steelers games, restaurants, entertainment, or the trail system. The apartment building involves a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments. Two-story loft-style units will be built at the top of the building, offering residents a peek inside of PNC Park.
Along with structured parking, the residential destination offers incredible amenities including a fitness center, co-working spaces, and a resident’s lounge. The design creates nearly an acre of green space on the second floor across from the ballpark that will feature grills, fire pits, games like bocce, and other activities. There will be a rooftop bar and lounge and swimming pool.
The client, RDC, also is proposing street-level retail, with a hope of doing something unique to appeal to outdoor enthusiasts.
