Located near the famous red dunes of the Ad-Dahna Desert, Riyadh’s Murcia Mall is designed to be a global destination for food, drink, and entertainment. Two atriums—one tropical and one arid—form the mall’s core, which itself is anchored by an expansive central water feature devised to provide visitors with cool refreshment in the desert landscape. Surrounding the central fountain, three-stories of eateries and cafes offer dozens of options where diners can take in the water shows or concerts in the central plaza. Across the water, lies a lagoon boardwalk and winding corridors of one-story structures that evoke the sense of wandering through a riverside village teeming with local cuisine, boutique shopping, and charming cafes. Strategically placed coverings along the walkway provide shade from the Riyadh heat, while light-colored stone pavement further aids cooling. Among the many retail stores within the mall’s interior, a food hall lies under the magnificent undulating glass ceiling. With local cuisine, fine dining, entertainment, and magnificent water features, Murcia Mall is poised to be the region’s premier destination for foodies, shoppers, and families alike.
