Located at the confluence of multiple mountain ski runs and lifts, Gabala is a wintertime destination and one of Central Asia’s best kept secrets. Following an extensive tourism study of the Northern Caucasian Region, our team created a vision to extend the city’s allure beyond that of a regional ski town – cultivating the perfect blend of entertainment, retail, and leisure venues at the doorstep of hotel and vacation rental accommodations.
At the heart of this development, the new alpine-inspired town center seamlessly integrates contemporary touches within the traditional regional style. Narrow winding streets lined with charming shops and cafes connect spacious piazzas and intimate courtyards. The existing city canal is channeled into an expanded waterfront surrounded by new villages that accommodate vacation and year-round homes as well as new restaurants and retail. The plan envisions broadening the ski season by extending the resort’s ski slopes up to higher, colder altitudes. Activating and expanding the city’s rich assets, this transformation enables the region to share its proud heritage and lively culture with the world.
