The owner of Press House, an existing boutique coffee roasting house, sought to establish a new coffee shop to celebrate the art of coffee-making in the charming town of Sewickley just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. The new shop occupies two existing row buildings dating back to 1869, seamlessly fusing them via an updated façade while preserving a unique arched alley doorway. Floor-to-ceiling windows welcome pedestrians into the shop, where they’re greeted by a modern, curved ceiling. That shape is reflected in the exposed kitchen’s counter and open shelving, where the art and technology of coffee roasting and brewing are on full display. Locally fabricated elements, including the concrete counter, CNC-milled plywood shelves, comfortable window booths, and open banquette seating, celebrate craft at every step of the patron’s experience, inviting visitors to appreciate and congregate around the making of their coffee. Our team’s design provides Press House with a impressive, modern, and welcoming space where the love for craft is evident in every detail.
