Deira Islands comprise four interconnected, man-made islands off the coast of Deira, Dubai’s historic commercial center. Our masterplan imagines a long-term strategy for developing this untouched space into sixteen square kilometers of premier attractions, accommodations, and entertainment. The design captures both the thrill of a bustling, world-class luxury destination and all of the peaceful comforts of home. At the islands’ heart is Deira Central, an upmarket residential neighborhood built to accommodate thousands of new residents. The residents, along with the islands’ tourists, will benefit from the thoughtfully placed parks, playgrounds, fitness facilities, and mosques integrated throughout the communities. And locals and visitors alike can enjoy the ten million square-foot Deira Mall was designed with a retractable roof, allowing browsers to experience Dubai’s breezes. The expansive Deira Night Market, a stunning open-air collection of thousands of shops, is modeled on the historic Arabian souk. Deira Islands effectively doubles Dubai’s coastline including twenty-one kilometers of new sumptuous beachfront, which this masterplan improves with international resorts and world-class marinas.
