One Deira is a modern marvel—a centrally-located transportation hub in a historic area of Dubai that contains shopping, hospitality, and office space all in a single complex built atop an existing Gold Souk metro station. The culturally responsive podium of this complex is a sleek new shopping center spread over two floors with fifty-five new stores, cafes, and restaurants aimed at attracting cutting-edge and well-established commercial brands. As Dubai’s first retail complex built above a metro station, it provides a novel shopping experience catering to a fast moving and modern demographic.
One Deira is also the cornerstone of the larger Deira Enrichment Project, the development extending the storied Deira neighborhood through to the waterfront. One Deira is the country’s first integrated central transport station—complete with a metro station, a bus terminal, taxi stands, and additional parking—and its design caters to the many tourists, commuters, hotel guests, and locals who will pass through on a daily basis. The pedestrian-oriented layout provides quick access to the boutique shops and eateries from the bus and train lines. An engineering marvel, One Deira provides a new standard for mixed-use developments in Dubai, while also reflecting the city’s culture and history.
